Neteller Mystery

Did Lefebvre and Lawrence agree to a further delay in the hearing?

Neteller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre have still not had their day in court despite being arrested and bailed some time ago in January this year by the FBI.

The case against the two Canadians, who were detained on US soil by FBI agents on allegations connected with Neteller's online gambling business despite no longer holding executive positions in the company, has now been postponed twice, with the latest hearing scheduled for April 16.

It appeared this week that a further extension - to April 27 - has been granted, according to posters on the Neteller Coalition message board, although there has been no news agency or other confirmation. This in itself is unusual, given the widespread media interest in the case and the negotiations between the US Department of Justice and Isle of Man-based Neteller.

Following the arrests of its founders, Neteller withdrew from the US market and blocked all US accounts, depriving thousands of American players of control over their balances estimated to total tens of millions of dollars. The e-wallet also suspended trading in its shares on London's AIM, a situation that pertains to this date.
